The Australian Housing and Urban ��������� Institute (AHURI) has bestowed two awards in celebration of excellence in housing research.

Dr Chris Martin from the University of New South Wales and Dr Rachel Gallagher from Griffith University were the 2026 award winners.

���������Managing Director, Dr Michael Fotheringham, presented the awards at the Australasian Housing ���������ers Conference in Brisbane last month.

‘These awards are a testament to the strength and impact of Dr Martin and Dr Gallagher’s research,’ Dr Fotheringham said.  

The Professor Mike Berry Award for Excellence in Housing ���������

Winner: Dr Chris Martin, Associate Professor and Scientia Fellow at the University of New South Wales City Futures ��������� Centre

The Professor Mike Berry Award for Excellence in Housing ��������� is awarded by ���������each year in recognition of best presentation at the Australasian Housing ���������ers Conference. The 'Berry Award' recipient receives an engraved trophy and a $1,000 cash prize.

Dr Martin received the Berry Award for his presentation titled, 'Rental market concentration by management: an exploratory analysis of real estate agents' market power in New South Wales.'

 

 

Early Career Housing ���������er Award

Winner: Dr Rachel Gallagher, lecturer at Griffith University

AHURI's Early Career Housing ���������er Award recognises an up-and-coming researcher for their recent work in housing research. The recipient receives an engraved trophy and a $500 cash prize.

Dr Gallagher's conference presentation was titled 'Inherited Grids, Uneven Densities: Tracing Urban Morphology and Planning Reform in Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland'.

Congratulations to both Dr Martin and Dr Gallagher for their accomplishments in housing research.
